Teen in custody in shooting death of 16-year-old girl in Kenosha home

KENOSHA, Wis. — Police have arrested the 15-year-old boy who was a person of interest in the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend in Kenosha.

Authorities responded to a home in Kenosha at about 3 p.m. Thursday in the 10900 block of 66th Street for a report of two people shot.

Officers located 16-year-old Kaylie Juga and her 39-year-old mother Stephanie Juga with “injuries consistent with gunfire,” according to a statement from the Kenosha Police Department. Kaylie died at the scene. Her mother was taken in serious condition to a local hospital, where her condition later stabilized.

A search was underway for the 15-year-old, who police said had a relationship with Kaylie. Police said he fled the scene.

Police said they went to the teen's home early Friday morning to arrest him, but he was not there. Someone then called police from a home in Racine, saying the teen was there and wanted to surrender.

He was arrested and taken into police custody. He is due in court Monday, facing charges of armed burglary, murder and attempted murder.

Police are not looking for any other people of interest.
