Woman, 72, seriously injured in West Ridge hit-and-run

CHICAGO — Chicago police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run in the West Ridge neighborhood.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 7100 block of North Ridge Avenue. A 72-year-old woman was crossing Ridge Avenue at the corner of Estes Avenue when a red SUV struck her and fled the scene.

The woman was transported to St. Francis Hospital in serious condition.

It was previously reported that the woman was 69 years old.

People who live and work in the area said drivers constantly speed, and said the area is dimly lit.

No one was taken into custody and the investigation is ongoing.
